I woke up early – 5:00 AM. The wake up knock came at 6:45. The knocker nearly broke down the door.
Israeli dig site |
After a small breakfast of cookies and such, we began our walk to the site for an orientation. We walked through Kibbutz Sdot Yam and entered the site from the south.

At 8:30, we had breakfast at the Citadel Restaurant then continued our tour. We walked all over the site (the places the tourists don’t go). Stopped for Ice Cream on the north side of the city – then continued our walk to the aqueduct north of Old Caesarea. We had about a half an hour there before the buses came to take us back. Joni and I walked down to the surf and got our feet wet.

A large lunch was served at 1:00 and we had some free time. Joni, Lisa, Christine, and I went to the beach. We sat out for a while and played in the surf. At 3:00 we had a lecture in Beit Gil that lasted until 4:30 or so. At 5:00, we had a pottery orientation in front of dorm 1, after which we returned to the room for a short nap.

Dinner was at 7:00. After dinner, I exchanged some money ($100 travelers check = 240 shekels). There was some discussion of trying to get to the convenience store, but it was too late. Joni and I returned to the room, showered, and dressed up some. We went to the Sports Centre Club for about 2 hours, where they were doing folk dancing. We came home around 11:00PM and were in bed by 11:30.
